Being Overpowered – Is it Good, or is it Bad?

One of the biggest complaints I hear about Kirito as a main character, other than he has less personality than a brick wall, is that he’s overpowered. This takes away a lot of the tension or suspense in a fight during Sword Art Online, as everyone knows that Kirito is going to easily prevail in the end. Kirito is literally the John Cena of anime.

There are 3 things that form the foundation of any coherent story: Setting, plot, and characters. Out of those three, the most important one has to be characters, and more specifically the main protagonist. Without a great main protagonist, it becomes almost impossible to enjoy a stellar setting or get engrossed in a well written plot. Essentially, a main character is the gateway into a great story.

Anime is no exception, able to produce exceptionally great and equally terrible main protagonists.

However, as of late, I’ve met a show with a more interesting approach on the concept of anime and weapons, especially since the main character’s weapon of choice is a pair of scissors. The anime in question is ‘The Severing Crime Edge,’ which is an anime based on a seinin manga of the same title.

My AMKE Experience!

Hey, guys! I’m sorry to interrupt your regularly scheduled programming, but over the weekend of March 11-13, I went to a convention. I went to AMKE, or Anime Milwaukee, which is a smaller anime/geek convention in the Milwaukee Area. We usually only have around 5,000 people crammed into the convention center, so the waits aren’t the worst.
